In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, or someone who is from New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit after performing with small folk bands. It was co-written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first time he heard the first versions of the song that it would be a big popular. A few days after the performance to a throng of fans at Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
